For older adults and adults with disabilities who are unable to drive due to health conditions, hearing, vision, or mobility impairments, public transportation services or volunteer drivers may be the only means to access the outside world. Family members and friends often help, but organized transportation services can provide consistent and reliable support for those in need.
NIAAA partners with local senior centers and organizations to coordinate transportation options. For more information on available options, including volunteer transport services, contact your local senior center.
To become a volunteer senior transport driver, please contact your local senior center for details on opportunities.
